Langham pitches Co-Lin over Mineral Area Cards

WESSON — Freshman Joseph Langham pitched a 5-hitter and theCo-Lin Wolves whipped the Mineral Area (Mo.) Cardinals 8-1 Sundayafternoon on sun-kissed Sullivan Field. In 7 innings, Langham,struck out 8 batters and walked 1.

“I thought Joseph came out and controlled the game after thefirst inning,” said Co-Lin head coach Keith Case. “We had some realslugfests in the first two games and Joseph had his best game onthe mound for us. He set the tone.”

Sophomore Leftfielder Jody Britt directed the Wolves with a solohomer and a double. His 4th-inning shot put Co-Lin up 2-1.

Rightfielder Xavier Qualls collected 3 hits in the victory, plus2 RBIs. He had an RBI triple in the fifth.

Catcher Matthew Schexnayder had 2 hits.

Collecting singles for the Wolves were Josh Logan, PatrickWilliams, Garrett Jones, Justin Sykes and Cody Cunningham.

Mineral Area (3-8) was led by centerfielder Brian Bickerman’s 2hits.

Co-Lin (12-8) plays East Mississippi at noon today. The EMCCLions play Kishwaukee (Ill.) in the second game, followed by Co-Linversus Kishwaukee at 4:30.

In the second game of Sunday’s tripleheader, EMCC outscoredMineral Area 13-12.
