Thomas Patrick Gould Jr.

Thomas Patrick Gould Jr., 69, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15,2005, at his home. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17 atWilson Funeral Home in Monticello with burial in the MonticelloUnited Methodist Church Cemetery.

Tom was born in Elizabeth and grew up in Oakdale, La. Heattended Texas A&M and graduated from Lamar University in 1959with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology. Tom was a hard workerdedicated to all aspects of his life. He spent over 40 years in thepulp and paper industry retiring from Georgia Pacific in 1993 assuperintendent of the utilities department. He was a member of theNational Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and MagnoliaClock Club. He helped restore the clock in the Lyceum building atthe University of Mississippi.

Tom loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Hewas a loving father and devoted husband. He loved being “Pop” tohis five grandchildren. All of which thought he could fix anythingand he could.

Tom was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Ann Gould; andhis parents, T.P. and Fern Gould, of Oakdale.

Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy Brookins Gould;three daughters and their husbands, Missy and Billy Carney, ofHattiesburg, Kathi and John Carney, of Brandon, and Becky and JoeLittle, of Madison; a brother, Randy Gould, of Oakdale; hissisters, Ginger Sallstrom, of Orange, Calif., and Joyce Gould, ofDecatur, Ala.; and five grandchildren.

Mikel Michelle Kelly

br>Services for Mikel Michelle Kelly, of Natchez, were 3:30p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Natchez withburial in Kelly Cemetery in the Garden City Community in FranklinCounty. Marshall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kelly, 30, died Oct. 9, 2005, at his residence. He was bornin Adams County on Sept. 22, 1975, to Marie Johnson.

Preceding him in death were his father, Jake Lucas; hisgrandmother, Mozella Griffin; and two uncles, John Henry Griffinand James Edward Kelly.

Survivors are his daughter, D’Asia Coach; his mother, MarieJohnson; his stepfather, Amos Johnson; his stepmother, Liza Lucas;three sisters, Jacqueline Kelly, Angie Kelly and Lisa Lucas; sixbrothers, Roderick Kelly, James Earl Kelly, Jerry Wilson, OliverLucas, Frank Lucas and Lawrence Mason; and a host of aunts, uncles,nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Nita Ritchie

Services for Nita Ritchie, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Tuesday,Oct. 18 at First United Methodist Church with burial in RosehillCemetery.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Homeand Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Mrs. Ritchie, 65, died Oct. 15, 2005, at McComb Nursing andRehab Center. She was born on June 25, 1940, to James HardyThompson and Helen Avis Ripley Thompson.

She was a retired teacher. She had taught school in McComb,Natchez, Brookhaven, Columbus, Ga., and Gautier. She was also anadult education teacher at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Shewas a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was achamber singer and a member of the church choir. She was a memberof the Daughters of the American Revolution, Matinee Musicale,Brookhaven Little Theatre and the Usual Players at BrookhavenLittle Theatre. She was well known in the part of Louise in theplay “Always, Patsy Cline,” and as Mother Superior in the plays”Nunsense” and “Nunsense II.” She also directed numerous playsincluding “Blythes Spirit,” “Scratch,” and “My Three Angels.”

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband of 30 years, Carroll Ritchie, ofBrookhaven; her brother, James Thompson and his wife, Daronda, ofParagould, Ark.; her nephews, James Ripley Thompson, of Panama CityBeach, Fla., and John Hardy Thompson, of Paragould; her niece, TaraLeigh Thompson Wilder, of Panama City, Fla.; and a host of nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary Inez Rutledge Sandifer

Services for Mary Inez Rutledge Sandifer, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. today, Oct. 17 at Holly Springs Baptist Church. BrookhavenFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Sandifer, 93, died Oct. 13, 2005, in Longview, Texas, whereshe had evacuated during Hurricane Rita. She was born to TomRutledge and Mary Rutledge.

She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Brookhaven.She lived with her daughter in Groves, Texas, for the past threeyears. She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, MarvinHarry Sandifer Sr.; her son, Tommy Sandifer; her brothers, T.J.Rutledge and Tracy Rutledge; and her sisters, Sarah White, ShirleyRitchie and Tessie North.

Survivors are her sons, Marvin Harry Sandifer Jr. and his wife,Betty Sandifer, of Brookhaven, and Richard Neal Sandifer and hiswife, DeeDee Sandifer, of Spring, Texas; her daughters, ShirleySandifer King and her husband, Kirby King, of Port Neches, andCarol Sandifer Ryder, of Groves; her daughter-in-law, HildaSandifer, of Brookhaven; her brother, Troy Rutledge and his wife,Francis; her 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 22great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews andfriends.

Pallbearers are her grandsons, Doyle Wayne King, Robert LeonKing, Jimmy Sandifer, Marvin Thomas Sandifer Sr., Marvin RusselSandifer; and her great-grandson, Michael Boudreaux.

Claudell Wallace

Services for Claudell Wallace, of Bogue Chitto, are 1 p.m.Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church in Bogue Chittowith burial in Moak’s Creek Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service.

Mr. Wallace, 86, died Oct. 15, 2005, at Forrest General Hospitalin Hattiesburg. He was born on April 24, 1919, to Henry Wallace andRosa Rutland Wallace.

He was a retired marine engineer for Sun Oil Co. ofPennsylvania. He was a member of the Merchant Marines in World WarII. He was a member of Moak’s Creek Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister, GoldaMae Hux.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret Wallace, of Bogue Chitto; hisdaughter, Linda Paulk, of McComb; his sons, Ronald Wallace, ofSelbyville, Del., Gary Wallace, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and ChrisWallace, of Pensacola, Fla.; his sister, Ellowene Monroe, ofMcComb; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; severalnieces and nephews; and a caregiver, Sharman Richardson.

Katheryn Moak Wilcox

Services for Katheryn Moak Wilcox, of Sumter, S.C., are 10 a.m.Tuesday, Oct. 18 at First Presbyterian Church in Sumter.

Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home inSumter.

Mrs. Wilcox, 85, died Oct. 15, 2005, at Tuomey Regional MedicalCenter. She was born in Bogue Chitto on June 5, 1920, to Henry Moakand Florence Wallace Moak.

She graduated from Copiah-Lincoln Junior College in 1942 and didpost graduate work at Ohio State University in 1957 and 1958. Sheworked for the Mississippi Employment Service as an employmentsupervisor in Gulfport, where she met and married Capt. C. RaymondWilcox (USAF) on Feb. 14, 1950. She worked for Civil Service withthe Air Force and followed her husband to various assignments inthe United States, Puerto Rico and Korea, where she was active inthe Officers Wives Club and the Women of the Chapel. She and herhusband moved to Sumter in 1967 where her husband was assigned toShaw Air Force Base from which he retired in 1969.

In 1978 she was the first volunteer in the emergency room atTuomey Hospital where she served until January 2004. She was amember of the American Legion Auxiliary, president of theCosmopolitan Club, president and treasurer of the Garden MakersClub, membership chairman of the Sumter/Shaw Community ConcertAssociation, and board member of the Sumter Green. She was a memberof the First Presbyterian Church and Women of the Church where shewas selected as a life member.

Survivors are her husband; one son, James P. Wilcox and LeslieWest, of Sumter; a stepson, Thor Wilcox, of Copenhagen, Denmark;one daughter, Nancy Wilcox Shepherd and her husband, David, ofLargo, Fla.; one brother, Russell Moak; one sister, Josie Wallaceand her husband, Aubrey, of Bogue Chitto; her grandchildren,Kathryn Elizabeth Wilcox, of Sumter, and Seaman Apprentice JamesRaymond Wilcox, of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif; and numerousgreat-grandchildren.
