Services for Kathy Ann Bracey Thames, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Saturday, Dec. 10 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Riverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noonuntil 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thames, 48, died Dec. 7, 2005, at the Mississippi BaptistMedical Center in Jackson. She was born on April 2, 1957, to S.M.”Todd” Bracey and Margaret Alyeen Coleman Bracey.

She was a teacher at Alexander Junior High School for 27 years.She was a member of Central Baptist Church She was a graduate ofBrookhaven High School, Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and theUniversity of Southern Mississippi where she received a Bachelor ofScience degree. She received the Teacher’s Commitment to ExcellenceAward presented by the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber ofCommerce in 1996. She was also Teacher of the Year in 2000-2001 atAlexander Junior High School.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, John D. “Tooky” Thames, ofBrookhaven; her sisters, Ann Goleman and her husband, Ted, andBetty Joe Bracey Calcote, all of Brookhaven; and a host of nieces,nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her best friend, BeckyDonald.

Kathy was an extraordinary teacher. She displayed a genuine lovefor all her students that went beyond the classroom. She was a trueand faithful friend, sister and wife. She always had positive wordsof encouragement when we needed it. Above all she loved Jesus. Asmuch as we hurt and miss her, we will see her again.
