The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of2.14 acres of land to expand the Loyd Star Attendance Center campusMonday.

The land, previously owned by Nelson Case, was purchased fromJames L. Case and the Nelson Case estate for $10,700. The propertyadjoins the existing campus on the south, across the entrance fromthe ball fields, along Highway 550.

A majority of the property will be used to provide much-neededparking for the campus, said Superintendent Terry Brister.

In other matters, the board approved a citizen’s request to payfor a septic tank system repair at the citizen’s home. The residentalleged the damage was caused by school buses over time. The septicsystem is under a bus turnaround.

The citizen was not identified and the cost of the necessaryrepair was not mentioned during Monday’s meeting.

Brister said no one was aware the turnaround had been builtabove the system. He recommended the board also discontinue use ofthat turnaround.

“I’m not being vindictive,” he said. “We can’t take the chanceon having to repair this every time we turn around.”

The district will work with the citizen on a new pickup locationfor his children, Brister said. The most likely location would bean intersection approximately 50 to 70 yards away.
