Services for Rose Mary Prewitt, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, March 14, at Friendship Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Community Funeral Services is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 10a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Prewitt, 78, died March 11, 2006, at Southwest GeneralHospital in McComb. She was born in Drumright, Okla., on Nov. 7,1927, to Burt Hendricks and Betty Houston Hendricks.

She was a devoted mother who instilled in her daughters theimportance of family. She was retired, having worked as manager ofseveral retail stores in Brookhaven. She accepted Christ at anearly age and was baptized by her Uncle Gene. She also rededicatedher life to Christ when her nephew, the Rev. Larry Hendricks, spokeas a missionary at Friendship Baptist Church. She was an asset instarting the Women of the Moose Chapter in Brookhaven and hadserved in many offices of that chapter until her health kept herfrom doing so.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband,Wilbur Lee Blair; her infant daughter, Betty Mae Blair; herbrother, Burt Hendricks; and a stepgrandson, Hank Mercier.

Survivors are her five daughters and their husbands, Rosie andFrank Mercier, Sharon and Mack Lambert, and Toni and Gene Newell,all of Brookhaven, Alice and Roy Allen of Tomball, Texas, and Donnaand Robert Cupit of Bogue Chitto; her ex-husband, Bill Prewitt, ofBrookhaven; four brothers and their wives, Art Hendricks and Boband Fairy Hendricks, all of Monroe, La., Doyle and Ginny Hendricksof Hendersonville, Tenn., and Jimmy and Marsha Hendricks, ofBaytown, Texas; four sisters and their husbands, Ramona Holland ofBaytown, Vivian and Jerry Woods, of Taft, Calif., Sandy Stewart ofBakersfield, Calif., and Frances and Richard Byron, of San Antonio,Texas.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Debbie Morris, BrianBreland, Scooter Watson, Roy “Jabo” Allen, Sissy Williams, SheliRohmann, Mack Lambert Jr., Malena Britt, Sam Lambert, Angie Jasper,Tommy Prather Jr., Christy Martinez, Courtney Cupit, MelissaNewell, Jennifer Newell, Abbie Newell and Kerri Newell; threestepgrandchildren, Debbie Mercier, Frank Mercier and Dena Mercier;30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a host ofclose nephews and nieces.
