Bogue CHitto shuts out Enterprise

BOGUE CHITTO — Meleah Brown pitched a 1-hitter and the BogueChitto Lady ‘Cats roared to an 11-1 Monday victory over theEnterprise Lady Yellow Jackets. Brown (8-6) struck out 9 battersand walked 2 in the Division 7-1A fastpitch softball contest.

Bogue Chitto (8-7, 3-1), coached by Scott Leggett, visitsNatchez Cathedral today for a varsity doubleheader, starting at 4p.m. The Lady ‘Cats are at Vicksburg St. Aloysius Thursday,starting with a JV game at 5 p.m.

“We hit OK, but we need to put more hits together, with runnersin scoring position,” said Leggett. His team finished with 11hits.

Directing the BC attack was Candace Avants with 3 singles.Chelsey Miller and Shaquille Burton tripled. Latoya Braxton singledtwice. Jessie Miller, Caitlin Owen, Devon Welch and Brown singledas BC took a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

Kayla Owens was the losing pitcher. She fanned 3 batters andwalked 6. He team committed 6 errors.

A single by Ashley Greer was the only hit off Brown.

Coach Steve Sasser’s Lady Jackets host St. Aloysius today.

JV Results

Bogue Chitto edged Enterprise 8-6 in the junior varsity game.Winning pitcher Hannah Holmes fanned 2 batters and walked 1..

Chyna Coghlan absorbed the loss. She fanned 3 and walked 1.

Chris May homered for BC. Holmes tripled. Caitlin Owen doubled.Holly Miller, Darcy Miller and Blaine Myers singled.

Enterprise got singles from Coghlan, Hannah Russell and AnnMarie Cole.
