Services for James Vernon Moak, of Summit, are 10 a.m. Thursday,Jan. 11, at Catchings Funeral Home Chapel in McComb with burial inWoodlawn Cemetery in Summit. Dr. David Millican will officiate.

Visitation is today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home andon Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Moak, 86, died Jan. 9, 2007, at his residence. He was bornin Bogue Chitto on Dec. 26, 1920, to Tom and Rachel Moak.

He was retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad after 35years of service as a conductor. He was a member of First BaptistChurch in Summit. He was a very devoted and dedicated husband,father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Sarah ByrdMoak; and one sister, Vivian Hart.

Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Bryant and Lynn Moak,of Montgomery, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Della and LuckyAdams, of Meridian; his brothers and sisters-in-law, George andAnnie Pearl Moak, of Summit, and Tom and Willa Moak, of BogueChitto; his grandchildren, David Moak, Kelly Burgess, Rachel Day,Lane Adams, Jamie Adams, Cote Moak and Justin Moak; hisgreat-grandchildren, Austin Day, Sarah Moak and Christian Burgess;his brother-in-law, Malford Byrd, of Wesson; his sister-in-law,Margaret Ellen Yates, of McComb; and numerous nieces, nephews andfriends.

Pallbearers are Mr. Moak’s grandsons, David Moak, Justin Moak,Cote Moak, Jamie Adams, Lane Adams and Kelly Burgess.
