No injuries in bus accident

There were no serious injuries when a bus carrying 15preschoolers and a truck collided on South First Street Thursdayafternoon.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Rodney Foster said a truck,driven by Calvin Andrews, of Bogue Chitto, was heading south onFirst Street and turned in front of a northbound New Zion HeadStart bus, driven by Odis Williams, of Brookhaven. In thecollision, the truck sustained damage to the back passenger sidewhile the bus was damaged in the front right bumper area.

New Zion Head Start Center Administrator Peggy Wells said thebus was carrying 15 children, ages 3 and 4.

Foster said there were “no obvious injuries” involving thechildren, although a few were crying following the accident.Williams and Andrews were not injured.

The 15 students were loaded onto another bus and taken to King’sDaughters Medical Center for evaluation.

“Our policy is for the kids to go to the emergency room to bechecked out before going home with their parents,” Wells said.
