Brook Day at Capitol set for Feb. 13

The Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is ready to gowith its ninth annual “Brookhaven Day at the Capitol” on Tuesday,Feb. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Capitol building rotunda inJackson.
The theme this year is “Be in TUNE! with Brookhaven-LincolnCounty,” and invitations encourage legislators to “tune in.”
“It’s an awareness-builder for the City of Brookhaven in theeyes of the state,” said Kay Burton, program director for theChamber of Commerce. “The key is to have a presence in the Capitoland showcase Brookhaven.”
The chamber will have a display set up inviting legislators toperuse information specific to Brookhaven and Lincoln County whilealso thanking area legislators for their representation.
Joining representatives of the city will be a delegation fromthe Mississippi School of the Arts.
“It’s always a pleasure to exhibit accomplished learning in thevisual and performing arts with the public and we’re really lookingforward to sharing our progress with our legislators,” said Dr.Vicki Lambert, executive director of MSA.
Brookhaven residents are encouraged to attend the event. Inaddition to the food and festivities, there will be a drawing foran iPod.
“We really just like to take this time to touch base with allthe state legislators and let them know what we’re doing here inBrookhaven,” said Chamber Executive Vice President CliffBrumfield.
