John Calvin Thornhill

John Calvin Thornhill, 62, of Summit, died May 29, 2007, atSouthwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Thornhill was born January 11, 1945, in Pike County to thelate James Calvin Thornhill and Casey Mae Bumpus Thornhill.

He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather who lovedhunting and fishing. Mr. Thornhill for many years worked atRiverside Gravel Company and until his recent battle with cancerworked for Hammett Gravel Company in Lexington. He was a member ofMoak’s Creek Baptist Church and a Mason in the John A. QuitmanLodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law,Frank and James Lee Etheridge; and a sister-in-law, OcilaMcKey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Fannie MaeEtheridge Thornhill, of Summit; four sons and daughters-in law,John C. Thornhill Jr. and his wife Debbie, Bartley Thornhill andhis wife Emily, Ricky L. Thornhill and his wife Melissa, andFrankie Thornhill and his wife Jan, all of Summit; one brother andsister-in law, James Thornhill and Esther, of McComb; two sisters,Faye Suggs and Mary Ann Suggs, of Pontotoc; six grandchildren,Kayla, Jacob, Bradley, Joshua and J.C. Thornhill III, and BonnieRobinson; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Jackie Robinson; anda very special uncle, Acie Thornhill and his wife Alice, of DenhamSprings, La.

Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 9 p.m. at Jones FamilyFuneral Services and continues Friday morning from 9 until servicetime at 10 a.m. in the Jones Family Chapel with the Rev. DannySingleton officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive BaptistChurch cemetery in Smithdale. Pallbearers will be hisgrandsons.
