Services for Monroe “Bill” Winston, of Brookhaven, were held at11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Willie Mae Tyler Memorial Chapelwith burial in Carver Heights Cemetery. R.E. Tyler Funeral Home isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Winston, 100, died Sept. 14, 2007, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born on Sept. 12, 1907, to Benjamin “Bud”Winston and Melissa Mitchell.

He was a retired mechanic from Sinclair in Chicago, Ill. He wasalso a retired convenience store owner in Brookhaven.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sons, David andWillie Winston; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Diane Green Winston, of Brookhaven; fourgrandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and many other relativesand friends.
