The visiting Lawrence County Lady Cougars collected some bighits in the late innings to come away with a 9-2 Division 6-4Aslowpitch softball win over the Brookhaven Lady Panthers Tuesdaynight.

Lawrence County improved to 6-2 in the division and 10-6 on theseason, claiming the division lead. Brookhaven fell to 6-2 indivision play and 16-6 overall. Brook has division games left withMcComb and Mendenhall.

The Cougars outhit the Panthers 15-8 at the plate. Brookhavencommitted 4 errors to Lawrence’s 1.

“I’m proud of my girls for playing hard and hitting the ball,”said Lawrence County head coach Jill Haney. “They fought hard thewhole game.”

Lawrence led 2-1 for 5 innings. The Cougars outscored Brookhaven7-1 over the final 2 innings to secure the win.
