Services for Evelyn Joy Smith, of Bogue Chitto, will be held at11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Mt. Zion Church of Christ inBrookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Bros. Ronnie Loftonand Doug Kimble will officiate. Brookhaven Funeral Home on NatchezDrive is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of theservice.

Mrs. Smith, 69, died Oct. 30, 2007, at her residence. She wasborn in Pike County on Oct. 25, 1938, to Wiley Gray Johnston andGracie Coburn Johnston.

She was a 1956 graduate of West Lincoln School and the Co-LinNursing Program (LPN). She was a homemaker and mother. She was amember of Mt. Zion Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, ThomasEarl Johnston, David Johnston and Charles “Bud” Johnston; and hersister, Ethel Lee Allred.

Survivors are her husband, Edward H. Smith, of Bogue Chitto; hersons, Brad Smith and wife Kris, of Gonzales, La., Victor Smith, ofBogue Chitto, and Keith Smith and wife Sondra, of Bogue Chitto; herdaughters, Sheila Smith, of Brandon, Jennifer Polk, of Hattiesburg,and Trista Russell and husband Ronnie, of Brookhaven; her brothers,Curtis Johnston and wife Lola, and Ray Johnston, all of McComb; hersisters, Hazel Kuyrkendall, of Brandon, and Jean Neames and husbandDennis, of Crossville, Tenn.; and a host of grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Zion Churchof Christ Building Fund.
