Wolves crush Tigers in twinbill

CLARKSDALE — The Co-Lin Wolves handed the Coahoma Tigers a pairof beatings Wednesday afternoon, The Wolves howled to an 18-6 winin the opener and a 16-6 victory in the finale.
“I thought our players had some better focus about them,” saidCo-Lin head baseball coach Keith Case.
“Hopefully we will carry that focus over to Saturday,” when theWolves (14-15, 1-1) host Jones County Junior College for a 1 p.m.South Division doubleheader.

Trent Hartzog (3-2) worked the first two innings, striking out 1batter, walking 3 and allowing 3 runs on 3 hits for the win. Alsoseeing action was Joseph Evans in the third inning, with 2strikeouts, 1 walk and 1 run allowed on 3 hits allowed. MartyBallard finished the game, taking over in the fifth with 1strikeout, no walks and 2 runs allowed on 1 hit.
The losing hurler was Lawrence McCloud (0-3) with 1 strikeout, 6walks and 12 hits allowed. Cayne Boykins worked the final 1.1innings with 1 walk and 1 hit allowed.
Powering the Wolves at the plate was Timmie Foster with a grandslam home run and a single. Ripping a pair of doubles and a singlewas Jarred Rogers. Taebyus Smith tripled and singled. Jordan Toneyand Mason Warren singled twice apiece. Hitting safely were StevenGauthe and Russ Carter,
Terrell Jones led Coahoma with a triple and a single.
At the plate, the Co-Lin outhit Coahoma 13-7. The Tigers made 4errors to Wolves 2.

In the second game, Avery Mathas (1-1) was the winning hurlerwith 3 strikeouts, 3 walks and 5 runs allowed on 6 hits. KolbyGodfrey worked the final 3 innings with 3 strikeouts, 1 walk and 1run allowed on 3 hits.
At the plate, Foster powered the Wolves with a triple and 2singles. Ripping a double and a single was Toney. Bennett Wilsondoubled. James Antoon, Rogers and Warren collected 2 singlesapiece. Montez Chatman, Gauthe, Paul Davis and Carter singled.
Brad Wilson took the loss with no strikeouts, 2 walks and 9 runsallowed on 8 hits. Jeff Johnson worked the fourth and five inningswith 1 strikeout, 1 walk and 1 run allowed on 1 hit., Ricky Dodsonfinished the final 2 innings with 7 runs allowed on 6 hits.
Leading Coahoma with 3 hits was Cayne Boykin. Dodson ripped apair of singles. Hitting safely were Brad Wilson, Maddox, Jones andRicky Luckett.
The Wolves outhit the Tigers 16-9 at the plate. Co-Lin committed4 errors to Coahoma’s 3.
