Results of Monday’s Ward Six special election were finalized asTuesday morning, city officials said.

Deputy City Clerk Marsha Fairman said the final total showed 229votes for Brookhaven businessman David Phillips and 77 votes forParks Commission Member Robert Kenny after 29 affidavit ballotswere checked and counted. Unofficial results from Monday stood at209-73.

Five of the 29 affidavit ballots were thrown out. Affidavitballots are cast when there is a question about a voter’s residencyor some other issue.

Plans for Phillips’ swearing in have not been finalized. He willserve the remainder of the term of former alderman John E. “Buddy”Allen, who resigned in April.
