Services for Lee Roy Smith, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m. Thursday,Oct. 23, at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service.

Mr. Smith, 75, died Oct. 20, 2008, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born on April 5, 1933, to Hamlin Smithand Mamie Irene Norton Smith.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Loyd Star High School and attendedWhitworth College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force andserved during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of MacedoniaBaptist Church and a member of Harry Lane Case Sunday school class,where he served as secretary. Mr. Smith was owner of Smith Groceryfor 12 years. He retired from Sears after 27 years of service. Uponretiring, he enjoyed growing tomatoes and sharing them witheveryone. He also owned and operated Smith’s Mobile HomeseekersParadise for 17 years. One of his greatest joys was spending asmuch time as he could camping with his precious wife of 55 yearsand dear friends. He was a member of Paradise Sams Motorhome TravelClub.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, ColtonSmith, Holon Smith and Robert L. Smith; and a sister, IreneSmith.

Survivors are his wife, Polly Boyte Smith; his sons, LaroneSmith and wife, Debbi, Kerry Smith and wife, Sherree, all ofBrookhaven; his daughter, Alisa Smith Forrest and husband, Tony, ofBrookhaven; his sisters, Wessie Smith, Nellie Jackson, both ofBrookhaven, Rowena Maxwell, of Baton Rouge, La.; hisbrother-in-laws, Wayne Boyte and wife, Carole, Charles Martin andwife, Shirley, both of Brookhaven, Denver Jackson and wife, Cecile,of Stillwater, Okla.; his 10 grandchildren, Jenny Edwards andhusband, Paul, of Wesson, Angela Smith, of Laurel, Landon Smith andwife, Jessica, Travis Smith and wife, Bailey, Brittany Smith, allof Wesson, Derek Smith, Katie Smith and Karah Smith, KrishannaHeathcock and husband, Chris, and Geoffrey Forrest, all ofBrookhaven; and his four great-grandchildren, Lainey Claire andJackson Smith, Jason Heathcock and Baylor Smith.
