Ole Brook’s White places 4th in hurdles

PEARL – Isaiah White placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles tohighlight Brookhaven’s performance Friday in the Class 4A Statetrack meet.

Ole Brook’s Desiree Benson finished sixth in the grueling 3200and the 1600-meter runs. Chavon Middleton placed seventh in the300-meter hurdles.

Andrea Graham was fifth in the triple jump and Erica Lenoir waseighth.

Ole Brook’s 4×100 relay team was disqualified because theirbaton was dropped on the first exchange.

McComb’s girls and Oxford’s boys captured the 4A teamchampionships. McComb was led by junior standout Brittany Harrellwho won the high jump and both hurdling events, plus anchoring the4x200 relay.

Oxford’s boys edged defending state champion Pearl 78-67 ½ fortheir third state title in 4 years.

In Class 3A Franklin County’s multitalented Jamie Collinscaptured the shot put and was second in the discus. The 6-foot-4,220-pound Collins has signed a football scholarship with SouthernMiss. He was The DAILY LEADER’s Most Valuable Player on the 2008and 2007 All-Area Football Teams and the 2009 All-Area BasketballTeam.

The Raymond boys and Pass Christian girls captured the Class 3Ateam championships.
