Suspects sought in burglary of local restaurant

Police are continuing to follow leads in the early morningburglary Monday of a Brookhaven restaurant, authorities said.
Brookhaven Assistant Police Chief Nolan Jones said authoritiesare searching for at least two suspects in the robbery of abusiness safe and an undisclosed amount of cash from Wendy’s onBrookway Boulevard.
Although authorities believe the burglary occurred shortly after3 a.m. Monday, the crime was not reported until 7:34 a.m. when astore manager arrived for work, Jones said.
“Entry was made by tearing a lock from the door on the northeastside of the building,” he said.
Once inside, the thieves broke the lock to the manager’s officeand pried the safe from the floor. A dolly was used to remove thesafe from the building, Jones said.
