Guard Rejavion Stewart stepped up in the second half and startedshooting out the lights in Sinclair Gymnasium Friday night. TheBrookhaven senior sacked six, second-half treys en route to agame-high 24 points as the Panthers roared to a 66-39 victoryagainst the North Pike Jaguars.

Stewart, a 5-9 sparkplug, tossed in four, fourth-quarter treys.The Panthers (7-1) went on a 31-8 run and sent the Jaguars back toSummit with their second loss in seven days to BHS.

“Chris Bates got the ball to me when I was open and I got myrhythm going,” said Stewart. “Then we got some momentum.”

Stewart and his teammates had taken a 25-21 halftime lead,slowed by 10 turnovers. North Pike, coached by Keith Russ, alsostruggled with miscues, making 14 first-half turnovers.

“Rejavion has been our most consistent shooter,” said BHS coachPreston Wilson. “In the first half we were standing around anddidn’t get the ball in the right place. We have been shooting theball pretty well.”

Stewart said the Panthers must play better defense as the seasoncontinues. “We need to come out more enthused. We have to play moreas a team and play better defense.”

Stewart was joined in double digits by 6-8 junior center FredFairman with 14 points. He also had 8 rebounds and 5 blockedshots.

North Pike got 9 points each from Eric Allen and Michael Quinwho also had 6 rebounds.

With 1:03 left in the third quarter, BHS went up by 10 points,35-25, on a pair of free throws by Danny Perkins. The Panthers ledby 20 points, 49-29, when Perkins hit a trey with 5:02 left toplay.

In the JV boys game, Brook roared to a 49-28 victory as AlvinFranklin netted 11 points. Richard Kelly and Dennis Jordan each had7 points. Jared Battee and Hakeem Trimel scored 5 apiece.
