Man killed, others hurt in collision

A head-on collision in Lawrence County resulted in the death ofa Louisiana man Sunday morning, Lawrence County Coroner SidneyFortenberry said.

Richard Dale Martin, 57, was killed around 9:37 a.m. Sunday,Fortenberry said, when the vehicle in which he was a passengercollided head-on with another vehicle on Homesville Road inJayess.

Fortenberry said Martin was living in Mississippi, but was fromLouisiana.

“His driver’s license had a Louisiana address; he wasn’t living inLouisiana, but was apparently from there. He has family here,”Fortenberry said.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was riding in a car driven by Timothy Wallace, Fortenberry said.No address was available for Wallace.

The SUV that was also involved in the collision was driven byChristy Wall, of Monticello, who was airlifted from the scene toForrest General Hospital, Fortenberry said. Her address also wasnot available.

The three children who were passengers in the SUV were taken byambulance to Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, officialssaid. Fortenberry said he does not know any information on thestatuses any of the others in the accident.

Hartman Funeral Home in McComb will handle Martin’s arrangements,which are incomplete.
