Bogue Chitto clips Cathedral

NATCHEZ – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats scored 2 runs in the eighthinning to pull out a 10-8 win over the Natchez Cathedral Lady GreenWave Thursday night in the second round of the Class 1A South StateFastpitch Playoffs.

Bogue Chitto (16-8) hosts Cathedral today at 5:30 for the secondgame in the best-of-three series. If necessary, a third game willfollow.

“We did a great job staying composed in the eighth,” said BogueChitto girls coach Scott Leggett. “Rheagan (Welch) pitched out of atough situation. I was pleased with our offensive production. Westill should have scored more runs in the fourth, fifth andsixth.”

Welch (8-4) posted the win with 11 strikeouts and 3 walks. MollieDevening took the loss with 3 strikeouts and 4 walks.

Cathedral exploded for 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning totie the game at 8-all and force the extra inning.

Darcy Miller powered the Cats at the plate with a home run and adouble. Mattie Avants singled twice. Singling were Bradi Davis,Josie Porter, Alexis Givens and Wilson.

Homering for the Greenies was Beth Fortenberry. Kimble Devening andMelissa Gavin collected 2 singles apiece. Doubling was MollieDevening.
