BHS doubles teams in semifinals

RIDGELAND – Three Brookhaven doubles teams have advanced to theClass 5A State Tennis Tournament semifinals. They won Monday’smatches at the Ridgeland Tennis Center.

In No. 1 boys doubles, Austin Watts and Jake Baker won 6-3, 6-1over Moss Point. They play Mullen-Huntington of Oxford today.

In No. 1 girls doubles, Amanda Moak and Emily Lowery defeatedRidgeland 6-1, 6-2. They face Chapman/Phillips of Gautiertoday.

In No. 2 girls doubles, Meredith Jacobs and Allison Boyd prevailedin split sets as they defeated East Central 6-0, 6-7, 6-4. Theyplay Leatherwood-Lindsey of Long Beach today.

State finals are this afternoon.

In No. 2 boys doubles, Brookhaven’s John Calcote and Braxton Hintonlost to Blair-O’Keefe of St. Martin 6-2, 6-4 in the firstround.

Class 2A

Courtney Watts of Loyd Star defeated Boisseau of East Webster 6-1,6-1 Monday in girls singles. Watts faced Cassidy Turnage of St. Joein today’s semifinals.

In No. 1 girls doubles, Macie and Ansley Schimmel of Wesson beatMcAdory/M. Davis of Eat Webster 6-1, 6-6, (7). They play St. Joetoday.

In No. 2 girls doubles, Enterprise’s Lacey Orr and Haleigh Wickerwere defeated by St. Joe’s Turner-Harkey 6-2, 6-0.

In mixed doubles, Taylor Everett and Abby Morris defeatedGordon-Harrison of East Webster 6-2, 6-3. They play Coffee/Neeld ofSt. Joe today.
