Some heads-up work by a Brookhaven police officer and help froman OnStar vehicle security system collared three alleged homeinvaders Monday morning at a local gas station.

Brookhaven Police Chief Pap Henderson said Cody Howell, 19, JoshuaKeys, 19, and Damarius Gardner, 20, all of Jackson, were arrestedat the Kasko Travel Center just off Exit 42 in Brookhaven afterallegedly entering a home in Jackson, tying up the owner, andstealing his wallet and car keys overnight.

Jackson Police Department notified Lincoln County dispatch that thestolen car was being tracked by OnStar as it made its way down 55,Henderson said, so local officials were on the lookout for thevehicle as it made its way through the county.

Henderson said Lt. Clint Earls heard the vehicle description on theradio and realized he had found the car the three men had allegedlystolen.

“Lt. Earls was on Union Street Extension and went under theoverpass and saw a vehicle coming off the interstate that fit thedescription, so he turned around and the tag matched up,” Hendersonsaid.

Earls was backed up by other BPD units, as well as help from theLincoln County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi HighwayPatrol, but officers were able to put all three men in custodywithout incident.

Howell, Keys and Gardner are each charged with house burglary andarmed robbery.
