Velma Bacot

A private graveside service for Velma Bacot was 11 a.m. onWednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at Lakewood Memorial in Clinton. FranklinFuneral Home in Meadville is in charge of arrangements.

Velma Bacot went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday Jan.24, 2011. She passed away at Franklin County Memorial Hospital inMeadville. She was born on Feb. 26, 1912 to Sisily and James OtisEasley. She would have been 99 this coming February.

Bacot was married to Ralph Bacot for 40 years.

Velma Bacot touched the lives of many people with her sweetsmiles and loving heart. She loved her family and always hadsomething nice to say.

She lived in Jackson for 60 years and was a member of ForrestHill Baptist Church and the Daney Stanley Sunday School Class. Shewas the oldest member to sing in the choir.

After her husband passed away, she volunteered her time as aPink Lady at Hinds General Hospital and was a member of the EasternStar.

At the age of 95, her daughter moved her to Meadville to takecare of her. For the last three years she has been in the MeadvilleConvalescent Home.

All of her friends loved her and called her “Pretty Lady.”

She is survived by one daughter, Delores Martin, of Meadville;one brother, H.W. Easley, of Picayune; one sister, Floree Dixon, ofPasadena, Texas; two grandsons, Bill and Randy Martin, ofMeadville; three great-grandchildren; and fourgreat-great-grandchildren.
