Bernice Sandifer Watson, 100 years and six months, of SilverCreek, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at her daughter’s residencein Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 30, atOld Silver Creek Baptist Church in Silver Creek with burial in thechurch cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home of Monticello is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Watson was born in Lawrence County on October 13, 1910, theeldest daughter of nine. She retired as a Public Health Nurse forthe state of Mississippi in (Fayette) Jefferson County after 56years of service. She loved her work, her family and theLord.

Her life philosophy was: “That’s life, you take what comes, and youdeal with it.”

Preceding her in death were her mother Mollie Allen Sandifer; herfather Norris Sandifer; her husband Prentiss Anon Watson; her sons,James A. Watson and William B. Watson; her brothers, Thad, NorrisAllen and Oliver Sandifer; her sisters Nancy Sandifer, Nell Butler,Mary Lou Fuller, Charlene Fore and Rushell Raley; and one grandson,Scott Barnett.

Survivors are her daughter, Shirley Watson Barnett and husband, Ed,of Jackson; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and manynieces and nephews.
