Funeral services for The Rev. Winfred R. “Chubby” Lowery,of McComb, were 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, at Hartman-SharkeyFuneral Home in McComb, with private burial in Riverwood MemorialPark.

 

    The Rev. Lowery, 83, died Dec. 20, 2011, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center. He was born in Mayseville, Ark. on May 19,1928, to D.W. and Lillie Kelly Lowery.

    He was a retired Baptist minister, having served throughout thelocal area, most recently at Robinson Baptist Church in Peoria. Hewas a member of West McComb Baptist Church. The Rev. Lowery wasco-manager of the McComb and Tylertown Farmer’s Market.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, W.L. Lowery; andgrandson, Jonathan Huffman.

    Survivors are his wife of 28 years, Sonya Hedgepeth Lowery, ofMcComb; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jonathan Lowery, ofBrookhaven, and Bo and Darla Huffman, of Magee; three daughters andsons-in-law, Martie and Paul Byrd, of Brandon, Harriet and JoelJones, of Pearl, and Dawn and Tracy Goolsby, of Brandon; sister,Joyce Olsen, of Kennesaw, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
