Funeral services for Ivy Elaine Smith, of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, at New Providence Baptist Church, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Jefferson County. Community Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Smith, 58, died March 19, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Mississippi on Sept. 23, 1952 to Jazy L. Maher Sr. and Lessie Twiner Maher.

     She retired from the Mississippi Department of Human Services and was a cashier at Wal-Mart. She was of the Baptist faith.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Russell Hudson; two brothers; and one sister.

     Survivors are her spouse, Lanny Smith; daughter, Tara Ashley Hudson; brothers, Joe Maher, Eddie Maher; sisters, Patricia Hatcher, Mary Watts, Joyce Cockrell; and grandchild, Benjamin Hudson Smith.
