Lucille Assink

Lucille Eckert Assink, of Wesson, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Riggs Manor Methodist Retirement Community in Raymond after a brief illness. She was 91 years old. Born and raised in Birdseye, Ind., she graduated from Birdseye High School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Noel H. Assink; mother and father, Norma Jackson Eckert and Floyd Eckert; and three of her seven brothers, Lester, Robert and Larry Eckert.
Survived by her brothers, Gerald Eckert, of English, Ind., Glenn Eckert, of Indianapolis, Ronald Eckert, of Eckerty, Ind., and Gordon Ray, of Jasper, Ind.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Assink Wittig, of Loyd Star; sons, Terence N. Assink and wife, Sandra, of Franklin, Tenn., Michael L. Assink and wife, Cynthia, of Loyd Star, and Randall W. Assink and wife, Lynda, of Ridgeland; daughters, Kathy Assink Dicharry and husband, Lawrence, of Cabool, Mo., and Rebecca Assink Hennington and husband, Eric, of Mumbai, India; grandchildren, Michael Assink and wife, Frances, Emily Assink Haley and husband, Joseph, Joseph Assink, William Assink, Seth Assink and wife, Candace, Stephen Assink, Josiah Dicharry, Paul Dicharry, Miriam Dicharry, Loretta Dicharry, Kyle Hennington and Connor Hennington; and four great-grandchildren, Isaac, Catherine, Presley and Piper Assink.
Lucy was a member of Decell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wesson, the Wesson Fifty Plus Club, the Wesson Garden Club and the Wesson American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was employed by Sears as an interior designer, she managed the Wesson Senior Citizens Center and was a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout and 4-H leader, Little League team mother and Sunday school teacher.
The family wishes to express appreciation for the kindness and care provided by the staff at Riggs Manor Methodist Retirement Community.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service on Saturday, May 5, with burial in Sweetwater United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
