A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Foxworth man in Lawrence County, the Mississippi Highway Patrol has reported.

Troopers responded to the fatal wreck on Mississippi 587 south in Lawrence County just north of the Marion County line at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15.

David W Holmes, 32, of 1006 Taylor Rd., Foxworth, was northbound in a 1998 GMC sport utility vehicle when the vehicle left the roadway to the right and collided with a tree and rolled over, troopers said.

Holmes was ejected from the SUV, according to troopers, who said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Holmes was pronounced on scene by Lawrence County coroner Sidney Fortenberry.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
