N. Pike defeats Purvis

SUMMIT – Junior Lauren Wells provided a solid pitching performance, giving up only one hit with six strikeouts and no walks as the North Pike Jaguars sailed past the Purvis Lady Tornadoes 11-1 Tuesday night in Region 7-4A softball action.

The Lady Jags (10-4, 3-1), coached by Sonya Wallace, continue action today. They visit Hattiesburg to battle Oak Grove on William Carey’s softball field. Junior varsity kicks off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30.

Savannah Johnson and Madison Bigner provided the offensive charge to lead the Jags with two singles. Wells contributed a double. Hitting safely were Rickeria Martin, McKenzie Brock and Sarah Brock.

Donna Slade suffered the loss for Purvis with no strikeouts and four walks. Carrigan Arban (0K, 0BB) pitched in relief.

Kristin Slade recorded the only hit for the Lady Tornadoes with a single.
