May shoots 72 in third round

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – Co-Lin’s Corbin May shot an even par-72 Thursday in the third round of the NJCAA Division II National Golf Championship at Goose Pond Colony Golf Club. May has a 3-round total of 69-76-72-217 and is 9 strokes behind tournament leader Steve Souchek of John A. Logan (Ill.)

Souchek’s 6-under par 66 Wednesday gave him a 3-day total of 69-73-66-208. The 66 tied him with David Keenan of Parkland (Ill.) for low tournament score. Keenan’s total of 66-70-73-209 leaves him 1 stroke off the lead.

Brad Hawkins of Walters (Tenn.) and Marley Sweeney of South Mountain (Ariz.) share third place at 210. Gabe Schiller of Mott (Mich.) is next at 211.

Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Jake Pritchard is 6 strokes behind at 70-73-71-214.

In team standings, South Mountain leads with an 846, putting the Cougars at 18 under and 23 strokes ahead of second place Walters at 869. Gulf Coast is in a 3-way for sixth at 887.
