Lincoln Co. Americans land in 8s World Series

PASCAGOULA – The Lincoln County American League All-Stars are headed to the Dixie Youth Baseball AA 8s Coach/Pitch World Series at West Monroe, La. They finished fourth in the state tournament and will play with World Series July 26-30.
Coach Blake Wallace’s team is guaranteed 5 games. There will be 3 pool games in the double-elimination bracket.
The Americans were eliminated Monday 12-2 Monday by the powerful Pascagoula Reds. The Americans had won twice on Sunday, beating Cleveland 22-9 and Indianola 10-3.
Pascagoula 12, AL 2
Pascagoula hit 5 home runs in the victory, led by Kaden Irving and Davidson Stokes who hit 2 homers apiece. Redd Robinson also homered as the Reds broke open a close game with a 6-run sixth.
The Americans got a home run and 2 RBIs from J.P. Wallace. Two hits were collected by Payne Waldrop, Trevor Fortenberry, Mason Davis, Riley Easterling, Jacob Rushing and Carter Holcomb. Singles were made by Peyton Reid, Rayce Stewart and Trenton Tarver.
AL 10, Indianola 3
Wallace hit a grand slam homer in the victory. He also doubled and singled as the Americans played solid defense and took the lead with a 4-run second.
Fortenberry tripled, doubled and singled for the winners. Easterling and Park Moak both singled twice and doubled. Peyton Prather tripled and singled. Reid singled singed twice. Tarver doubled. Stewart, Holcomb and Davis singled.
Indianola was led by Rainer Ledbetter and Wade Lang who both doubles and singled. Castle Shepherd tripled and Preston Rust doubled.
AL 7, Cleveland 6
The Americans erased a 2-run deficit and beat Cleveland with a 3-run sixth. Waldrop drove the ball to the fence in left-center, scoring Wallace. Fortenberry singled and drove in Waldrop. Davis drove in Fortenberry with the winning run.
Waldrop finished with a triple, a double and a single. Holcomb tripled and doubled. Tarver, Fortenberry and Moak each doubled and singled. Davis had 3 singles. Prather, Stewart and Rushing singled twice. Wallace and Easterling singled.
Cleveland, which scored all 6 of is runs in the top of the fifth, got a double and a single from Collin Russell. Michael Morris, Dawson Shive, Caleb Carter, Brandon Ware and Austin Batts doubled.
