A Hazlehurst woman was killed when her vehicle collided with another on I-55 Sunday night in Lincoln County.

At approximately 10:29 p.m., Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M troopers responded to a traffic crash on the southbound side of I-55 near exit 48, Mt. Zion Road.

Troopers learned that a 2015 Chrysler 200, driven by Shamekia L. Bridges of Hazlehurst, was traveling south when the vehicle collided with the rear of a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Nicholas C. Lacking of Clinton, also traveling southbound. The collision caused the Chrysler to overturn and travel into the media. Bridges, 21, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lincoln County deputy coroner Ricky Alford.

Lacking, 22, was not injured.
