Krewe of Ceres celebrates 54th annual ball

One of the grandest events of the year for the area is back for the 54th time.
The Krewe of Ceres Charity Ball has been an annual Brookhaven event for generations. Tickets are still available for the event Saturday at the Lincoln Civic Center.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by calling 601-757-6141. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 7:30.
“The Krewe has a two-fold purpose,” said Publicity Chairman Shannon Miller. “To recognize the area’s outstanding young people and to raise money for Lincoln County and Brookhaven charities.”
There will be dancing and a live band, as usual, Miller said, along with a meal. Attendees are asked to observe safe social distancing as much as possible.
“We traditionally have the ball in February,” Miller said, “so it may look a little different this year. But we’re looking forward to honoring our outstanding ball members and donating to our local charities.”
Trainbearers, maids and escorts have been announced, but the king and queen of the ball will not be publicly revealed until the ball itself.
This year’s trainbearers are Ava Kate Bairfield, Camille Katherine Calcote, Celie Jane Estess, Gracie Gardner Fitzsimmons, Collin Ryan Holmes, William Ware Simmons, Hampton Edward Smith, Lily Kingston Smith and Mary Claire Sones.
Escorts are Samuel Salter Adcock, Grayson Carter Anding, Cade Borden Brown, Dawson Drew Flowers, Gayton Land Johnson, Daniel Vincent Panzica, Wesley Tanner Thurman, Braxton Rials Wallis and John Coker Wright.
The 2021 maids are Ainsley Grace Allen, Hannah Ashleigh Arnold, Emily Grace Boutwell, Anna Alysa Floyd, Megan Lynsey Gerald, Mardie Elizabeth Henning, Kathryn Elizabeth Legg, Maley Marie Moak, Leigh-Taylor Grace Smith and Katherine LeJeune Wallace.
