Around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, officers with Brookhaven Police Department responded to Brookhaven High School in response to rumors of a threat to the school.

School administrators found out about a rumor posted on social media concerning the school, and immediately began investigating with the help of BPD.

“It was an argument between two students,” said Superintendent Rod Henderson. “There was never a threat. Someone went to Facebook and stated that there was a threat, but it never was.”

“After investigating, it was discovered there was no threat to the safety of our students and staff,” a Facebook post from the school district read, posted at 3:10 p.m. “We take all threats to our schools seriously. We will continue to be vigilant about campus security.”

The school district is in the process of finishing upgrades to security on all campuses. Architect Steve Cox told the School Board this week the project was 99 percent complete.
