The man accused of killing John Deere in 2004 had his indictment amended Monday to remove the language of “first degree.”

During a hearing to address the state’s motion to amend the indictment of Aaron LaDaniel Lyons, Judge David Strong ruled to remove the language of “first degree” from the indictment as unnecessary.

Lyons’s defense attorney did not disagree with the change. An omnibus hearing to discuss the trial docket for the case has been set for March 30 at 11 a.m. Strong will preside over the hearing. The trial has been set to begin on June 9.
