BARL searching for man in cat beating

The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League says a man entered its facility and beat a cat Friday afternoon.

According to a BARL representative, the cat caregiver had stepped out of the cat room to assist with catching a loose dog outside. Upon re-entering the building, the caregiver saw a white male with dark hair exiting the room and getting into a black four-door truck, pulling a black boat. A BARL representative estimates the man to be between 30 and 40 years old.

When the caregiver entered the cat room, she found blood splattered around the room and a plastic stick was in pieces from where the man allegedly hit the cat, a BARL Facebook post stated. BARL took the cat to a veterinarian, where it later died. The veterinarian believes the cat was stomped during the incident.
