With just 61 days until Christmas, holiday enthusiasts are gearing up for the food, music and decorations that come with the season.

Those already dreaming of the winter wonderland they will create in their front yard are invited to find new treasures at the Friends of the Lincoln Public Library inaugural Christmas decorations sale.

The sale will be open Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Nov. 10 from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the library.

It will feature an array of gently used, donated decorations in a range of prices, Friends member Pam Womack said.

“The Christmas decorations sale is a way for the community to find very reasonably priced decorations,” she said. “Everything will be cheaper than what you will find at the store. It is a good way to change your yard theme.”

But before they can sell the decorations to the public, they need to stock their inventory of donated goodies. The Friends are in need of decorations — in good condition — for the sale. They will be accepting donations for the sale on Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the library.

“All we’re doing is asking people to bring their used decorations to the library on that Monday,” Womack said. “They can bring anything Christmas. In fact, if anybody has any Christmas jewelry, bring it. We’ll put a price tag on it and sell it.”

All proceeds raised by the Friends through the sale will be donated directly to the library to purchase materials and programs.

“This is our first year to put on the sale, but it is our fifth year as a group,” Womack said. “The Friends of the Library have contributed up to $20,000 for the library every year for the last five years.”

Friends of the Library is a non-profit group with approximately 45 members. Anyone in the community is welcome to join the group. Membership dues are $10 per year.

“Most of the people who are in our group appreciate the library and love to read, but everyone is welcome,” Womack said. “We sponsor different events during the year to raise money.”
