Ole Brook rallies past Enterprise 11-10

In an exciting game from start to finish, the Brookhaven Lady Panthers scored eight runs in the final two innings and staged a furious comeback to take down Enterprise 11-10.

The win moves Brookhaven to 10-4 overall on the season and the loss drops Enterprise to 4-7 overall.

“Extremely proud of the girls. We were down multiple times and they never stopped fighting,” Brookhaven head coach Mandy Vinson said. “Our entire pitching staff did a great job. We had big bunts and hits came when we needed them. Enterprise is a good team. Good to get the win.”

“I’m very proud of the girls,” Enterprise head coach Charissa Burke said. “They kept battling and staying in the game, but we do need to fix a few things.”

Despite getting runners on first and second base with two outs in the top of the first, the Lady Panthers were unable to bring a run across, as the Lady Jackets escaped out of the jam. In the bottom of the first, Abby Meredith of Enterprise brought in the first run of the game on her RBI single to score Carly Polk to give the Lady Jackets the 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, the Lady Jackets scored again on a throw that got past the catcher to increase their lead to 2-0.

In the top of the third, Madi Miller led off with a single for Brookhaven and Kat Wallace followed with a RBI double. The Lady Panthers would tie the game at 2-2 on a throw past first base.

In the bottom of the third, Lauren Gartman hit an RBI sacrifice fly for Enterprise and Haley Nations followed with an RBI single to retake the lead for the Lady Jackets at 4-2.

In the top of the fourth, Tia Bussey brought in a run on an RBI single for Ole Brook. The Lady Panthers would load the bases later in the inning, but the Lady Jackets were able to get out of the inning without allowing another run to score.

In the bottom of the fourth with one out, Meredith hit an RBI sacrifice fly. With two outs, Gartman hit an RBI single bringing in another run to make it 6-3 Enterprise through four innings.

Enterprise would add on three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Enterprise the 9-3 lead.

Trailing 9-3 in the sixth inning, the Lady Panthers started tacking on runs to start their comeback. The Lady Panthers loaded the bases to start the sixth inning. Wallace hit a RBI sacrifice fly and Macy Ziskin followed with a two-run RBI single. Ole Brook scored one more time on a pitch past first base, before the Lady Jackets could get the final out trailing 9-7.

With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the seventh, Wallace hit a three-run RBI single to give the Lady Panthers the late lead. Rilegih Allen followed with an RBI double giving the Lady Panthers a 11-9 lead.

The Lady Jackets scored their final run of the night in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Gartman, falling to the Lady Panthers 11-10.

Kat Wallace led the way for Brookhaven on the night, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a team-high five RBIs as well. Macy Ziskin followed up by going 1-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs.

The Lady Jackets are back in action Tuesday as they take on district opponent Loyd Star. The Lady Panthers also play Tuesday as they take on Franklin County at 6:15 p.m.
