Brookhaven aldermen recently accepted Southbrook Lane as a public street.

Attorney Clint Gardner requested Nov. 5 that the board formerly accept Southbrook Lane, which is part of Southbrook Development, a small 10-lot officially platted subdivision off of Natchez Drive. The area was previously an accepted subdivision before annexation. Gardner said Lincoln County has Southbrook Lane on its minutes as a public road.

Southbrook Lane begins at the intersection of Loblolly Lane and Lampton Lane.

The board voted 4-0 to approve Gardner’s request. Ward 1 Alderman Dorsey Cameron, Ward 2 Alderman Shannon Moore and Ward 3 Alderwoman Mary Wilson were absent from the meeting.

In other business, the board approved the following:

• Resignation of Curtis Thadison from the Water Department.

• Employment of Joshua Sasser in the Water Department as a part-time locator of water/sewer lines for $9.36 hourly.

• Employment of Timothy Daughdrill as a certified patrolman in the Brookhaven Police Department at $33,884 annually.

• Resignation of Otis Dyer Jr. from the BPD.

• Resignation of Andrew B. Montgomery from a part-time position at the BPD.

• Resignation of Charles Tracey Case as an animal control officer at the BPD.

• Resignation of Travis Bonham from the BPD.

• Length-of-service increase for Marvis Thomas in the Street Department from $9.36 hourly to $10.36 hourly.

• Promotion of Dexter Harris to Firefighter First Class with a five-year length-of-service increase from $32,262 to $37,449 annually.
