Services for Sharon Barlow of Brookhaven are 4 p.m., Saturday,Aug. 30, at Brookway Baptist Church with burial in Clear BranchBaptist Church Cemetery. Community Funeral Services is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5-9 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 4p.m., at Brookway Baptist Church.

Miss Barlow, 21, died Aug. 28, 2003 at Rankin Medical Center.She was born in Brookhaven on Sept. 29, 1981, to Lee Barlow andDeborah Winborne Barlow.

Preceding her in death was her grandmother, MildredWinborne.

Survivors are her mother, Deborah Winborne Barlow of Brookhaven;her father, Lee Barlow of Heavener, Okla.; her sister, ChristieBarlow of Brookhaven; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. CharlesWinborne of Brookhaven.

Ernest “Pete” May

Services for Ernest “Pete” May of Vidalia, La., are 10 a.m.,Saturday, Aug. 30, at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday, La., withburial in Rosehill Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Services will be conductedby the Rev. Glen Harrigill.

Visitation is Friday from 5-9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. May, 71, died Aug. 28, 2003, at VA Medical Center inJackson.

He was a retired off shore worker and an Air Force veteran ofthe Korean Conflict.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Verden Ernest May andVera Lea Goins May; and a sister, Margie Williams.

Survivors are his sister, Joyce Tarver of Vidalia, La.; hisniece, Cheryl Martin of Jackson; and his nephews and their wives,David and Betty Tarver of Vidalia, Mike Tarver of Natchez, Randyand Brandy Tarver of VanCleve, and Cam Miller of Jackson.

Pallbearers will be the great nephews.

Marzell Sudduth

Services for Marzell Sudduth of McComb are 6 p.m., Friday, Aug.29., at at Young’s Funeral Home in Summit with burial at 9 a.m.,Saturday, in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Bogue Chitto. Services will beconducted by the Rev. James Miller.

Mr. Sudduth, 39, died Aug. 25, 2003, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born inLincoln County on Aug. 6, 1964, to Joe Willie and LucilleSudduth.

He was a construction worker.

Preceding him in death were his mother; a brother, Willie JamesSudduth; and a sister, Mary Helen Barnes.

Survivors are Frances Alicia Carter; his son, Akeem Young; hisstepson, Taques Carter; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella andLarry Anderson of Bogue Chitto, and Margert Barnes, Sandra and OtisRansen, and Syrita Long, all of McComb, Rebecca Sudduth, Willie AnnSudduth of St. Louis, Mo., and Sara Lou and Tracy Griffin ofChicago, Ill.; his brother and sister-in-law, Henry Clay and MyrtisBarnes of Summit; his uncle, Tommy Earl Barnes of Magnolia; and hisaunts, Hattie Thompson and Mattie McKnight, both of Bogue Chitto; adevoted nephew, Richard Barnes; a devoted friend, Lonnie Ray Craft;and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews andother relatives and friends.

W.W. “Woody” Tisdale Jr.

Services for W.W. “Woody” Tisdale Jr., of Hazlehurst are 11a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at Hazlehurst United Methodist Church withburial in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Wright & FergusonFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 6-9 p.m., and Saturday from 9-11 a.m.,at Hazlehurst United Methodist Church.

Mr. Tisdale, 63, died Aug. 27, 2003, at his residence. He wasborn in Jackson on May 18, 1940, to Woodrow and Mary Tisdale.

He was a graduate of Kirbyville High School in Kirbyville,Texas, and Whitworth College. He served in the Navy and retiredfrom the Army National Guard on May 30, 2000. He began a career insales at Sanderson Farms that eventually lead him to a managementposition with George’s, Inc., in Springdale, Ark. He returned toMississippi in 1991 and lived in Hazlehurst for the past 11 years.He worked as a correctional officer with the Mississippi Departmentof Corrections, where he held the rank of sergeant for the pastseven years. He was a member of Hazlehurst United MethodistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Jewell Tisdale; hisdaughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Steve Bozeman of Hazlehurst,Marty and Joe Stennett of Brandon, and Lynn and Neal Bozeman ofBrookhaven; his sister, Mary Ann Granger of Vaiden; his brothers,Bobby Tisdale of Hazlehurst, and Jimmy Tisdale of Amarillo, Texas;and nine grandchildren.

Dr. Gene White

A memorial service for Dr. Gene White of Marietta, Ga., will beheld at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at First Presbyterian Church ofMarietta.

Dr. White, 55, died Aug. 22, 2003, in Marietta, Ga.

He was a high school English teacher in Mississippi and Georgiafor more than 30 years. After graduating from Co-Lin High School in1965, he earned his undergraduate degree in English education fromDelta State University, and his Master of Education degree from theUniversity of Mississippi. He began his career at Yazoo City HighSchool in 1969, and left after 13 years to complete his doctorateat Auburn University. In 1985, he went to work at Feldwood HighSchool in College Park, Ga., and in August 1988, he joined MariettaHigh School in Georgia. In 1991, he was named the high school andMarietta City Schools Teacher of the Year, and runner-up forGeorgia’s Teacher of the Year.

In 1995, thanks largely to Dr. White’s efforts, MHS became thefirst traditional high school in Georgia authorized to offer theprestigious International Baccalaureate program.

Survivors include his sister, Barbara Prine of Starkville.

Dr. White’s body was donated to Emory University School ofMedicine.
