Services for Dr. Dexter C. Nettles of Jackson are 11 a.m.,Sunday, June 12, at Union Primitive Baptist Church in Ruth withburial in the church cemetery. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home inJackson is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 9-11 a.m., at the church.

Dr. Nettles, 64, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at St.Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.

He was a native of Pike County and a longtime resident ofJackson. he received his Bachelor of Science degree from theUniversity of Southern Mississippi in 1961 and his Doctor ofMedicine degree from the University of Mississippi School ofMedicine in 1966. He completed his Anesthesia Residency at theUniversity of Texas School of Medicine, Southwestern and DiplomatAmerican Board of Anesthesiology in 1973. He was a Captain in theMississippi National Guard, 134th Combat Support Hospital.

Dr. Nettles was in general practice from 1967-1970 and laterserved as Director of Anesthesia Services, St. Dominic’s MemorialHospital from 1975-1999.

Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Sharon Cothern Nettles; hischildren, Dexter C. Nettles Jr., Tammy Nettles Sylvester, andJennifer Leigh Nettles; seven grandchildren; and onegreat-grandchild.
