William R. Bailey

Services for William R. Bailey, of Wesson, are 11 a.m. Saturday,Jan. 2, at Macedonia M.B. Church in Brookhaven with burial in theSt. John Community Cemetery in Wesson.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 7 p.m. at R.E. TylerFuneral Home in Brookhaven with family present from 6 until 7 p.m.The chapel is open to receive flowers at 11 a.m.

Mr. Bailey, 68, died Dec. 27, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born in Wesson on July 7, 1941, toLouis Bailey and Ella Mae Lee Bailey.

He was a retired bus driver in Chicago, Ill., and worked forChicago Transit Authority. He was a member of and pastor’s aide atMacedonia M.B. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers, Eddieand Michael Bailey and Harry “Ted” Cain.

Survivors are his wife, Sara Gray Bailey, of Wesson; his sons,Roland Bailey, Adrien Bailey, both of Wesson, and Randy Brooks, ofSacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Darlene Dodds, of Springfield,Mass.; a brother, Robert Bailey, of Calumet City, Ill.; a sister,Joanne Hunt, of Dolton, Ill.; and his eight grandchildren.

Lucie Gorham Bergen

Lucie Gorham Bergen, 98, passed away peacefully with her familyat her side on Dec. 13, 2009, in Manchester, Conn.

She was the sister of Charles R. Jacobs, of Brookhaven. Shelived most of her life in Winnetka, Ill., near Chicago, Ill., whereshe married Willett Noble Gorham in 1933 and had two children.Growing up in Winnetka, she attended the North Shore Country DaySchool and Pine Manor College. During her life in Illinois shevolunteered her time at the Skokie Valley Hospital and the ClarkHouse of Chicago.

Her husband Willett “Bud” Gorham predeceased her, as did hersecond husband, Garrett Bergen.

She is survived by her brother, Charles R. Jacobs and his wife,Pat Jacobs, of Brookhaven; her daughter, Dale Carstens and herson-in-law, Jeff, of Glastonbury, Conn., and their daughters, Julieand Skip Kamis, Lucie and Tom Daly, all of Glastonbury, andVirginia Carstens and Brooke Hammond, of Manchester, Conn.; herson, Willet and her daughter-in-law, Judith, of Grand Rapids,Minn., and Tucson, Ariz., and their daughters, Sue and KrisJennings, of Freeport, Maine, and Sandra Gorham and BillHoopingarner, of Plainwell, Mich.; as well as 11great-grandchildren.

Edward Earl Leavy

Services for Edward Earl Leavy, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Monday, Jan. 4, at Williams Mortuary Memorial Chapel in Brookhavenwith burial in Hopewell Church Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. at Williams Mortuary inBrookhaven.

Mr. Leavy, 59, died Dec. 29, 2009, at his residence. He was bornin Lincoln County on Oct. 2, 1950, to Wilson Leavy Sr. and CelestiaMae Mackbee Leavy.

He was a machine operator at Columbus Lumber Co.

Preceding him in death were his father; and a brother, RobertLeavy.

Survivors are his mother, Celestia Mae Leavy, of Brookhaven; hisbrothers, Willie Earl Leavy and wife, Jerenita, of Birmingham,Ala., Richard Leavy, of Brookhaven, Wilson Leavy Jr. and wife,Sally, of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph Leavy, of Brookhaven; hissisters, Shirley Ann Leavy, of Oxford, Calif., Serisure Jones, ofHouston, Texas, and Bernice Wilson and husband, Maxie, ofBrookhaven; his companion, Julia Yarbough, of Brookhaven; and ahost of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Carmen Drucilla Lloyd Tate

Services for Carmen Drucilla Lloyd Tate are 2 p.m. Saturday,Jan. 2, at Alexander Junior High School in Brookhaven with burialin Hillcrest Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 5 p.m. at Williams Mortuary inBrookhaven with family present from 6 until 7 p.m. at the CenterStreet Church of Christ.

Mrs. Tate, 47, died Dec. 26, 2009, at St. Dominic-JacksonMemorial Hospital in Jackson. She was born in Lincoln County onAug. 29, 1962, to Robert Earl Lloyd Sr. and Johnnie Mae MerchantLloyd.

She was a 1980 graduate of Brookhaven High School and sheattended Jackson State University. Mrs. Tate had worked for severalyears for Wal-Mart Distribution Center, the Brookhaven PublicSchools System and MAP Inc. She was a member of Center StreetChurch of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Henry andAlma Lloyd; a maternal grandparents, Clara Merchant and J.E. Adams;her uncles, Roger Lloyd, James “Rusty” Merchant; and an aunt, EllaMae Merchant.

Survivors are a daughter, Princess C. Lloyd, of Brookhaven; hersons, Cedrick T. Lloyd and Larry E. Johnson Jr., both ofBrookhaven; her father, Robert E. Lloyd Sr., of Hazlehurst; hermother, Johnnie Mae Lloyd, of Hazlehurst; her brothers, Robert E.Lloyd Jr., of Hazlehurst, Andre’ Lloyd and wife, Darla, of Yazoo,Fredrick B. Lloyd and wife, Juanita, of Montgomery, Ala., and RickyR. Lloyd and wife, Donna, of Brookhaven; and a host of aunts,uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
