One hurt in weekend shooting

An early Saturday morning shooting has left a Bogue Chitto manwith serious injuries and another man behind bars, authoritiessaid.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Sheriff Steve Rushing saidAnthony Dillon, 54, of 2451 Highway 51 South was shot twice with ahandgun in the stomach/chest area outside his home early Saturdayaround 12:45 a.m.

Dillon was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center and was latertransferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center inJackson.

“He is still in critical condition in Jackson,” said Rushing.

Austin P. Jackson, 17, of 2442 Southeast White Water Ave., BogueChitto, was charged with aggravated assault after he turned himselfinto custody around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The motive behind the shooting is undetermined.

“The reason is still under investigation, but it may stem from anold issue between both of them,” said Rushing.
