WESSON – As the Co-Lin Wolves launch the second half of their2000-01 season tonight, Coach Dennis Sims is looking for moreconsistency in his men’s team. Tonight’s home date in MullenGymnasium tips off at 6 p.m. with the women’s game, followed by themen meeting Mississippi Delta Community College at 7:45.

“Our depth has improved this year,” said Coach Sims. “We arestill not consistent on the offensive and defensive ends of thefloor to be where we need to be.

“We must improve on defense and getting defensive rebounds,”Sims continued. “We must continue to work hard in practice.”

The Wolves are 8-2 overall and 0-1 in the South Division. Theylost their only division game to Gulf Coast in early December.

As a team, the Co-Lin men are averaging 84.2 points per game. Bycontrast, opponents average 70.5 ppg.

Directing Co-Lin’s attack are sophomore guards Brandon Dickerson(16.3 points per game) and Barry Whitley (14.3 ppg), both of BatonRouge.

Freshman center Quentin Christian of Mendenhall averages 13.4ppg. Sophomore forward Marcus Calcote (11.5 ppg) of Natchez andsophomore guard Rod Haynes (9.3 ppg) of Monticello are next inscoring.

In field goal accuracy, Co-Lin makes 47.5 percent of its shotsfrom the field and 35 percent from 3-point land.

On the backboards Co-Lin is averaging 40.1 rebounds per game.Leading the way is Christian at 10.9 rebounds per game and Calcoteat 6.5 rpg.

Whitley averages 5.7 assists and Haynes 5 apg. Whitley hasaccounted for 4.1 steals per game and Haynes has 3.2 steals.
