Joseph Anthony Carr

Services for Joseph Anthony Carr, of McComb, will be held at 2p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home Chapelin McComb with burial in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Dr. DavidMillican and Deacon George Carr will officiate.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Carr, 80, died peacefully on April 28, 2008, surrounded byhis loved ones. He was born in Crystal Springs on June 2, 1927, toClara McNabb and William Timothy Carr.

Mr. Joe, as he was known by many, loved God, his family andpeople – particularly the people of Liberty. He was a member of theSt. Alphonsus Catholic Church. As a young man, he served in theUnited States Army. After serving his country, he married his wife,Betty Johnson Carr, on July 31, 1948. Mr. Joe and Miss Betty movedto Liberty and operated Liberty Dry Cleaners for 48 years. Mr. Joewas very civic-minded and interested in the economic development ofLiberty and Amite County. One of his greatest accomplishments wasserving as chief of Liberty’s volunteer fire department, andoverseeing the development of community volunteer fire departmentsthroughout Amite County. He was a member of Liberty Lions Club andthe Liberty Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded the chamber’sCitizen of the Year.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his parents-in-law,Verta Lee and William Earl Johnson; his brothers, George K. Carrand W.T. Carr Jr.; his sister-in-law, Marion B. Carr; and hisbrothers-in-law, Edward L. Bowman and Victor Goldberg.

Survivors are his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Johnson Carr;his children and their spouses, Jo Ann and Oliver Young, of Summit,Janet and Clifton Morgan, and Kim and Mike Carr, all of Brookhaven,and Jeannie and Bruce Wood, of Brandon; his grandchildren and theirspouses, Dana and Russell Spring, and Jay and Carr Young, all ofMcComb, Kelly and Harold Quin, and Traci and Rusty Everett, all ofBrookhaven, Chad Carr, of Hattiesburg, Brad and Zachary Carr, ofBrookhaven, Hayley and Will Loftin, of Meridian, and Justin andRyan Wood, of Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Avery, Mason andJake Spring, Emma Grace Quin, Shelby and Cade Everett, and AllieLoftin; his sisters-in-law, Audrey Carr, Nell Carr, Billye J.Bowman, and Sylvia Goldberg and her family Debbie, Abby and MarkGoldberg; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Mr. Carr’s grandsons.

Mildred Causey

Services for Mildred Causey, of Meadville, will be held at 1:30p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel inBude with burial in Old Oak Grove Cemetery in Franklin County.

Visitation is Tuesday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Ms. Causey, 82, died April 24, 2008, at Meadville ConvalescentHome. She was born in Franklin County on May 29, 1925, to JackCausey and Trudie Johnson Causey Thomas.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her brother, LeeEarl Causey.

Survivors are her nephew, Joe Jones, of Meadville; her aunts,Odessa Holmes, of McComb, Wilhemina Allen, of Prentiss, VictoriaAndrews, of Greensboro, N.C., and Katie Mae Johnson, of Carson; anda host of other relatives and friends.

Thomas Johnson

Services for Thomas Johnson, of Monticello, will be held at 1p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at Quin Temple in Monticello with burialin the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Johnson, 97, died April 25, 2008, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. He was born in Lawrence Countyon Dec. 25, 1910, to Fred Johnson and Rosie Johnson.

He was retired. He was a member of Quin Temple.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his nieces, Rose L. Gray, and Mildred Anderson,both of Las Vegas, Nev., Minnie Dixon, of Monticello, and RubySpikes, of Colton, Calif.; and his caregiver, Ceola Atterberry, ofMonticello.

Joseph R. ‘Joe’ Rayburn

Services for Joseph R. “Joe” Rayburn, of Ruth, will be held at11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at New Life Apostolic Church inSummit with burial in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs.Kenneth Patten and Marc Rutland will officiate. Jones FamilyFuneral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church, and onWednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Rayburn, 22, died April 26, 2008, at his residence. He wasborn in McComb on Sept. 5, 1985, to Jose Illescas and VickieTurner.

He was an ironworker with R.K. Wallace Construction since he was18 years old. Joe was a member of New Life Apostolic Church inSummit. He graduated from Enterprise High School. His family andfriends said that Joe has always been a hard worker and he had funno matter what he was doing.

Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Jose Illescas; hisgrandmother, Maria Luiss Peineds; his uncles, Carl Eugene Rayburnand Carlos Peineds; and four aunts.

Survivors are his wife, Tiffany Champagne Rayburn, of Ruth; hisson, Deston Blade Rayburn, of Ruth; his grandparents, Carl E.Rayburn Sr. and Marion Rayburn, of Ruth; his stepfather, AbairTurner; his stepmother, Pat Illescas; his brothers, Tracy Billiotand Jennifer, of Jayess, Jeremy Rayburn and Wendy, of Ruth, andStacey Rayburn and Candy, of Ruth; his sisters, Torrie Ruthland andMarc, of Larto, La., Nichole Cannon and Frankie, of Ruth, and MariaIllescas, of Houma, La.; his 12 nieces and nephews, Jessie Powell,Kelly Rayburn, Adelyn Rayburn, Kaylee Rayburn, Hannah Rayburn,Lilly Bell Billiot, Larissa Rayburn, Dylan Rutland, Lane Rutland,Dalton Billiot, Collin Rutland and Gavin Cannon; his aunts anduncles, Doug and Jere Sue Rayburn, Gary and Mary Rayburn, Larry andFlo Rayburn, Prissy and Johnny Olivier, and Tammy Babin; and manyrelatives and friends.
