Officials still searching for missing men

Several law enforcement agencies on Monday continued to searchfor three missing Monticello men who disappeared early Fridaymorning while supposedly returning home from Jackson.

Lawrence County Sheriff Joel Thames said Justin Middlebrook, 22;Isaiah Tucker, 20; and Timothy Young, 23, were last seen Fridayaround 2 a.m. traveling south on Interstate 55. Thames said afriend following the trio’s pewter 2004 Nissan Altima – tag numberLWG 074 – last saw them near the interstate’s Terry exit, but shesomehow lost their vehicle and returned to Lawrence County withoutthem.

“As of (Monday) morning, they haven’t contacted any familymembers and no one knows their whereabouts,” Thames said. “Rightnow, we’re at a standstill. We’re still searching.”

Thames said his department is searching locally, while theCopiah County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi HighwayPatrol are searching I-55. MHP has searched by ground and air, hesaid, from Terry south to Brookhaven and along Highway 27. Thesearch has produced no results.

Thames said further air searches may be conducted this week, andpatrolmen are on the lookout for the vehicle.
