Lady Panthers dominate Forest Hill

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers dominated the Forest Hill Patriots Tuesday to collect a 16-0 victory in slowpitch softball region action.

“We hit the ball really well today and played great defensively,” said BHS coach Mandy Vinson. “It is good to start off our region race with a victory.”

The Lady Panthers (4-7, 1-0) returns to action Thursday as they prepare to visit Monticello to take on the Lawrence County Cougars. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6 p.m.

Brookhaven 16, Forest Hill 0 

The Lady Panthers used their talents to quickly overpower the young Lady Patriots.

Brookhaven commanded a 4-0 lead after one inning of action, before erupting in the second inning with a 12-run explosion to defeat Forest Hill in three innings of action.

Rileigh Allen pitched a one-hit shutout for the Lady Panthers with one strikeout and no walks.

Julianna Porter powered Brookhaven’s offense with a home run. Jada Henderson and Kat Wallace continued the offensive onslaught with a double and a single apiece. Chantel Quarles and Danielle Batteast ripped a pair of single each. Hitting safely were Haley Speak, Katherine Shell, Fallon Brooks and Madison Thompson.
