Peavey receives SWAC First Team honors

Scottie Peavey ended his college baseball career with honors, as he was named First Team All Conference by SWAC coaches.

Peavey batted .350 this season and played right field for the Alcorn State Braves. He concluded his senior season with 11 home runs.

“I had a solid year,” said Peavey. “I only wish that we could have won conference.”

The current SWAC Tournament champions, Texas Southern, eliminated Alcorn State in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Peavey, who provided a home run in five straight games, also led the Braves in doubles with 17.

The Ole Brook product played at Northwest Florida Community College before transferring to Alcorn State in 2013.

Last year he led the SWAC in hitting. Peavey finished third in the conference in hitting this year.
