A big fourth quarter propelled the Enterprise Yellow Jackets to their second win of the season Thursday night. Enterprise’s 36-12 victory over Bogue Chitto at Harry Cole Field ended a 10-season drought against the Bobcats.

“This was a great win for our guys,” said Enterprise coach Brooks Burns. “I’m extremely proud of my players. They worked hard all week to get ready for this game.

“Bogue Chitto has a good football team,” said Burns. “We knew coming in that would be a battle until the very end. In the first half, we made several mistakes offensively, but the guys continued to play hard to fight through it. In the second half, we continued to wear down BC’s defense and managed to put together a good run at the end to secure the win.”

Enterprise rallied back to tie the game at 12-all, as quarterback Zach Hodges broke free from BC’s defense and scrambled in a 10-yard touchdown run with 4:48 remaining. The Jackets went for the two-point conversion but were unsuccessful on the run attempt. The third quarter ended with game tied at 12-all.

In the final quarter of action, Enterprise dominated as they outscored the Bobcats 24-0.

The Jackets’ defensive managed to contain Bogue Chitto’s offense on their opening drive to force BC to punt. Enteprise’s offense took over and continued to pound the ground to wear down the Bobcats.

At the 8:38 mark, the Jackets increased their lead on a eight-yard run by senior running back Braxton Thompson. Enterprise finally managed to punch in their third attempt of the two-point conversion on a run by Marvin Butler.

The Jackets’ offense continued to roll on their next two drives as Thompson cashed in a six-yard and a 14-yard rushing touchdown to push Enterprise’s lead to 36-12, after the Jackets added two more two-point conversion attempts on runs by Hodges and Thompson.

“Enterprise lined up and took it to us,” said BC coach Gareth Sartin. “Overall, we made a lot mistakes offensively and defensively that hurt or killed our drives. Come Monday, we will go back to work to correct our mistakes and get ready for Wesson.”
